How to Write Realistic Action Thrillers

Writing a military action thriller that will keep readers up late at night and waiting eagerly for the next book in your series involves far more than just researching what kind of guns your guys and girls will carry. It requires understanding how various types of operators will act and react in various situations, how they work together as a team and function in a joint forces environment, and most important–what are they like and how does their work affect them? In this presentation, author Jeff Wilson discusses how tactical decisions are really made, basic combat maneuvering, and what the men and women who work in this world are really like (Superman vs. the guy who takes the garbage to the curb on Thursday night).

INSTRUCTOR BIO:

Jeffrey Wilson is a former Naval officer who has at one time worked as an actor, a firefighter/paramedic, a jet pilot, a diving instructor, and a vascular and trauma surgeon. As a combat surgeon assigned to Naval Special Warfare (SEALs), Jeff made multiple combat deployments with an East Coast based SEAL Team and a Joint Special Operations Task Force. He is the author of three award-winning supernatural thrillers and co-author with Brian Andrews of the bestselling Tier One series of thrillers, as well as the Nick Foley series under the pseudonym Alex Ryan. He lives in Southwest Florida with his wife Wendy and their four children, where he writes furiously and continues to consult for various organizations within the Department of Defense.
