Infusing Atmosphere and Tension Into Your Romantasy

The balance between character development, plot, and worldbuilding can be tricky, but there are ways to heighten your atmosphere while giving enough weight and time to your characters and world. We'll discuss ways to indulge the senses with enchanting yet thoughtful language, while amplifying tension between characters to give readers that heart-pounding sense of anticipation and longing we know they love. Together, we'll walk through a few example passages and go over tips and tricks that you can use to create your own atmospheric romantasy.

Maxym M. Martineau is an associate creative director by day, and a fantasy author by night. When she’s not getting heated over broken hearts, she enjoys playing video games, binge-watching television shows, competing in just about any sport, and of course, reading.
